Richard Joseph Siegel, Sr., 75, of Leesburg, Fl., formerly of Middletown, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Villages Regional Hospital. Born in Mount Vernon, NY on November 5, 1939, Richie was the youngest of five children of Max and Helen (Aspenleiter) Siegel. Richie married the love of his life, Marilyn Elizabeth Thistleton, on June 6, 1964. Richie and Marilyn recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Richie graduated from Edison High School in Mount Vernon, NY. After graduation he enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Richie was a 50-year union member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.), Local 366 and Local 1. He served in many capacities as a union delegate but most notably he was President of Local 366 for over 25 years. Richie was a union stagehand for 43 years and worked on over 110 Broadway productions up until he retired on the Broadway hit "The Lion King". Golf was Richie's passion. He was a long time member of Orange County Golf Club, Middletown, NY where he met some of his dearest friends. Richie and Marilyn fulfilled their dream of moving to warmer climates and retired to The Plantations in Leesburg, Fl. in 2005. Richie quickly assimilated into the golfing community and will sorely miss his rounds of golf with his buddies from the S.W.A.T.S. Richie is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn. His children Richard, Jr., Michael (Jennifer), Deborah, and Barbara (Peter). His ten grandchildren: Joey, Dillon, Michelle, Molly, Abigail, Breanna, Kaitlyn, Dominick, Alex and Austin. Richie is also survived by his brother Bobby and his sister Marilyn. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Helen and brother Billy.
