**********
He is also seen as
Georg Heinrich Wingert and as Henry Wingert, Sr.
According to the church records of Pirmasens,
he was born 1 Sep 1808 in Gersbach, the Kingdom of Bavaria. This date conflicts ever so slightly with that on his tombstone, which was a common sort of discrepancy for German emigrants in the 19th century.
Heinrich was the son of Johann Georg and Elisabetha Louisa (Schweitzer) Wingert and brother to many siblings, most of whom arrived in the United States in 1840 and settled in Jefferson and Clearfield County in early 1841.
He was a brother to Georg Friedrich Wingert (of Clearfield Co.), Margaretha Wingert Keller (w/o Abraham Keller), and Charlotte Wingert Stehle/Staley, who is also buried at the St.Peters Reformed Cemetery.
He arrived in the United States via New York City in the year 1838, although previous accounts mistakenly stated that he arrived in 1833.
Upon arriving in Jefferson County, he married Louisa Schmitt Wingert, a young widow and d/o of Wilhelm Schmitt of Battle Hollow.
He spent the remainder of his life working as a farmer in Young Township, Jefferson County on land formerly occupied by Louisa's husband Nikolaus Weber.
He Married Louisa Schmitt sometime around 1838 or 1839.
He was the Father of:
Louisa (Wingert) Conrad (by wife Katharina Elisabetha Kofer in Winzeln)
and by Louisa Schmitt:
Maria Elizabeth Wingert Martzloff,
Margaret Wingert,
Charlotta Margaretha (Wingert) Weber,
Henry George Wingert Jr.,
Anna (Wingert) Hartzfeld,
Samuel Wingert,
William Frederick Wingert,
and Christiana (Wingert) Korb.
He died at home in Young Township, Jefferson County on 26 May 1885 after some years of struggling with kidney problems.
