Peter F. was born in St. Anthony, on May 29, 1920, to Leo and Eva (Kautzman) Kopp. He married Mathilda "Tillie" Gratz on June 11, 1945, in Mandan.
A lifelong resident of Mandan, proud of his community and country, Peter served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a radio communications technician. He would speak of his service proudly and would fondly relate many stories about that experience. He helped set up the speaker system for a USO show featuring Bob Hope. Peter's electrical training started in Tennessee while in the military and became his lifelong career. He started his business in his garage later purchasing RK Electronics which became PK Electronics. He was generous with his time and willing to give of his talents as a handyman whether for his family, church or community.
Peter relaxed by collecting coins, stamps and antiques and his love of nature by working in his vegetable and flower garden. Tillie fondly remembers teaching Pete how to dance the polka, this they were able to enjoy throughout life by going to various polka fests. These are a few of the cherished memories the family will remember about Peter.
He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, VFW, AmVets, Elks, and Disabled American Veterans.
Peter will be missed by his wife of 66 years, Tillie, Mandan; sons, Alan (June), Christine, Gary (Cleo), Mandan, Darwin, Plymouth, Minn., Wayne, San Jose, Calif., and Peter Jr., Mandan; grandchildren, Ian, Nathan, Whittney and Alise Kopp; sisters, Beatrice Emil, and Rose (Vincent) Fix, both of Seattle, Wash., and Marie (Ted) Renner, Dickinson; brothers, Edward, Seattle, and Clem (Agnes), Billings, Mont.; and sister-in-law, Wilma Kopp, Seattle.
