Mom's Eulogy, by Brad:
"It's hard to believe that the journey that started back in 1999 with her first Cancer diagnosis ended 2 days ago. I think we can all take comfort in knowing that her pain is over and she's in a better place.
Mom's battle with cancer took her on quite the journey. A lot of her time was consumed with finding ways to live healthier and to ultimately beat her disease. In this battle and during her quest for knowledge, she made many friends that give her the support she needed to keep fighting.
As the cancer progressed, her good moments became fewer and farther between, but she still knew how to enjoy them. Despite all she' been through, all the treatments and surgeries, she was always positive and upbeat. Her concerns always remained for her family. From her diagnosis until the time she left us, she worried about the consequences of her illness in terms of how we would be affected. She was the most selfless person I've ever known.
She cared more about her grandkids than anything in the world. I remember her asking me what I thought she should have her grandkids call her. She thought granny made her sound too old, so she settled on Grammy. Brooklyn, Allison, Ben, and Braxton have all been very fortunate to have had such an amazing woman in their lives. You kids should know that Grammy will always be with us in our hearts.
One of the things I admired most about my mother was that you always knew where she stood. There was no wondering how she felt or what she thought, she simply told it like it is. However, it did lead to a few "foot in mouth" moments, as Becky puts it.
Mom loved to travel and experience new things. I will always remember our trip to Italy a few years ago. In preparation, she tried to learn some basic Italian words and phrases. Thank you in Italian is grazie, but somehow mom managed to say gracias all week. I would look at her and she would say "Did I do it again?". I'd just say yea and we would laugh about it.
If you knew mom's love, compassion, and positive nature as a friend, you can imagine what it meant to me to be her son.
She was always there if I needed someone to talk to.
Mom was an amazing person. She will be dearly missed."
