Faul Archie, 75, Mandan, died Oct. 29, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey. Burial will be in Mennonite Brethren Cemetery, rural Harvey.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Archie was born Jan. 2, 1929, at Harvey, the son of Jacob and Pauline (Frueh) Faul. The Faul family lived near Velva for a time before moving to a farm in Pony Gulch township south of Harvey. Archie grew up and attended school southwest of Harvey. He married Georgia Poage on Feb. 14, 1959, at Powell, Wyo. They lived and farmed in the Harvey and Hurdsfield area. Archie moved his family to Mandan in 1971. He was a recreational vehicle service technician in Mandan and Bismarck and retired in 1996. He was also an accomplished gardener and carpenter throughout his life.
Archie was an avid reader of the Bible and world history. He enjoyed studying languages and doing research writing. He devoted several years to updating the Faul family history records. In 1991, he traveled to Germany to meet family members separated and held behind the Iron Curtain for two generations. Throughout his life he enjoyed listening to music, playing the guitar, singing and writing songs. As a devout Christian, he lived what he believed. He was devoted to his family and his life was a reflection of his deep faith in God.
Archie is survived by his wife, Georgia, Mandan; four sons, Jacob "Joel" (Juliet), Vista, Calif., Ted, Mandan, Fred "Rick" (Jodi) Mandan, and Monte (Elicia), Shoreline, Wash.; three daughters, Paula (Mike) Toshima, South Pasadena, Calif., Ronda (Mel) Parks, Admire, Kan., and Colleen Faul, Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren, Monarose Fickle, Kelsey and Laina Faul, Rose, Lewis and Kelly Hammer, Daniel, Matthew and Christianne Parks, Ethan and Hannah Faul, Justin Toshima and Magdeline Faul; and one brother, Nick (Dorothy) Faul, Harvey.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jake Faul, Delmar Hirschkorn and Wilbert Faul; and two sisters, Esther Goble and Freida Driesner.
