Walter R. Ketterling, 79, Wishek, ND, died Monday July 18, 2005 at his home in Wishek, ND.
Walter Ketterling was born July 25, 1925 on the family farm 2 mile North of Wishek in Logan County, ND, the son of Arthur J. Ketterling and Lydia (Steven) Ketterling. He received his elementary education in the Johannasdale rural school district and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the family farm. He attended the Wishek High School until 1944.
He entered the US army May 31, 1951 at Fargo, ND. He was discharged June 28, 1956 at Camp Gordon, GA.
He and Violet Bader were married September 8, 1957 at Wishek, ND. They made their home on his parent’s farm north of Wishek. In 1962 he took over ownership. In 1980 they moved into Wishek where he was employed at Solberg Super Valu Store. He worked from 1951-1962 at the Sales Barn and was a Local Brand Inspector from 1955-1983. Following the death of his wife December 14, 1997 he has continued to reside in Wishek, ND.
He was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Wishek.
He is survived by his 5 children, Lawrence (Elvira) Ketterling, Lehr, ND, LaVonne (Richard) Lewis, Elizabeth, MN, Darlene (Paul) Fritz, Ewa Beach, HI, Richard (Charlotte) Ketterling, Wishek, ND, Norma (Randy) Hahne, Lehr, ND, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 2 sisters.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday July 22, 2005 at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Wishek, ND, with Rev. Brandon Woodruff, officiating.
The interment will be made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Wishek, ND.
