She was born on April 10, 1947 in Auburn to the late George R. and Esther (Spires) Walter. She was a member of the Flint United Methodist Church and worked at Electri-Tec in Angola for 10 years. She married James P. Smith, Sr. on June 26, 1965 in Angola and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2009. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law: Zachary J. Smith of Bloomington, IN and James P. (Regina) Smith Jr. of Angola. Three brothers: Roger Walter of Indianapolis, IN, Larry Walter of Spencerville, IN and Jerry Walter of Auburn, IN. and 1 sister: Pamela Gibson of Hicksville, OH. Also surviving a grandson Hunter Smith of Angola. She was preceded in death by a grandson Jeffery Smith. Services for Mrs. Smith will be on Monday July 11, 2011 at 12 PM at the H.E. Johnson and Sons Funeral Home, 108 S. West Street, Angola, IN. Visitation will be held Sunday July 10, 2011 from 3 – 7 PM at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to services on Monday. Burial will take place in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola. Pastor John F. Cohrs of the Flint United Methodist Church will be officiating.
