Obituary
Elizabeth ?Betty? Faul, 70, Minot, ND, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020, at her home.
Elizabeth Kay Haugen was born September 16, 1949, the daughter of Bertram and Mildred (Cherry) Haugen, in Sidney, MT. She was raised Fairview, MT, where she began her early education. The family moved to North Dakota following her father?s passing. They lived in Max, Harvey, and finally Minot.
Betty met her future husband (and love of her life), Terry Faul, when Betty?s sister, Bonnie, married Terry?s brother, Phillip. Betty and Terry were married April 2, 1967 in Harvey, ND. From this union, five children were born: Becky, Darla, Stacey, Terry and Melodi. The family moved to Conrad, MT for some time before moving back to Minot in 1971. Betty and Terry celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2017. Terry passed away shortly after, in May of that year.
Betty loved to travel with Terry and get to as many race tracks as possible. If there happened to be a casino along the way, Betty would drag Terry into it.
Betty enjoyed learning. She was involved with the Head Start program and served as President of the Parent Council for 2 years. She also was a PTA President for 2 years and received a lifetime membership. She was also an MSU Hockey Mom for a couple of years.
Betty was employed by REM North Dakota for 25 years; a job she truly loved. She didn?t want to leave, but health issues led to her retirement.
Betty was so proud of her 5 children and then came 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly. She tried to get to as many of their activities as she could. When her grandsons and granddaughter started racing cars she would go watch, but once the racing started she would go hide in the bathroom and pray for their safety.
Betty was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Minot and the Nodak Women?s Auxiliary. Her other hobbies included attending races, gardening, casinos, playing cards and different games, and watching softball games ? especially her daughter?s team.
Surviving family includes Children, Becky (Alan) Medler, Darla Faul, Terry Faul (Tammie Mack), Stacey Greene and Melodi Faul, all of Minot; grandchildren, Nathan (Ashley) Medler, Justin Medler, Darren Medler, Courtney Greene, Katie (Philip) Kampman, McKenzi Faul (Chris Glenn) and Kayla Behnkie (Dominic Dock); great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Bryce, Kendra, Kennedy, Khloe, Londyn and Carsen; brother-in-law, Ron Randa; sister-in-law, Delores Lindeman; former son-in-law, Karry Greene, Minot; former daughter-in-law, Stacy Weltikol, Sawyer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Bertram Haugen; mother, Mildred (John) Bachmeier; husband, Terry Faul; sisters, Bonnie (Phillip) Faul and Lillie Ann Randa; brothers, Steven Bachmeier and Bertram Haugen, Jr.; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
