VIRGIL JOSEPH REINIG, 85, of Spencerville, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at his home with his family by his side. Born Aug. 24, 1930, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Sylvester and Elva (Wyss) Reinig. Virgil attended Central Catholic High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
On Oct. 18, 1952, he married his loving wife, Monica (Kell) at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic
Church and started a family. Together they nurtured four children and their families. Virgil worked many jobs to make ends meet. He loved the car business and made many friends serving his community. He was the owner of Reinig Motor Sales for over 50 years, from which he retired in 1992. Virgil was a proud member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, past President and Race Director with Indiana
Snowmobile Association until 1994, past President of the Leo Chamber of Commerce, longtime member of American Legion Post 409, and first responder and officer for Trailer Estates Fire Department in Bradenton, Fla.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Monica (Kell) Reinig of Spencerville, Ind.; children, Keith (Deb) Reinig of LaGrange, Ind., Kevin (Sheila) Reinig of St. Joe, Ind. and Karen (Phil)
Gouloff of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kristine Bowling; and sister, Adalaide Reinig.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Dan Scheidt officiating. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with a Rosary service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Masses.
