On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, our beloved mother and grandmother, Anna A. Haman, 88, went to be with our heavenly father. She was a longtime resident of Great Falls and the last few years resided in Billings. She died with her family at her side.
Left to cherish her memory are three sons and one daughter, John "Sonny" (Marilyn) of Great Falls, Donald "Babe" (Bonnie) of Great Falls, Dwaine "Bud" (Janet) of Sheridan, Wyo., and daughter Elaine Raty of Billings; 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, five brothers, Ernest, Frank, John, Walter and Raymond; and two sisters, Arlene and Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a newborn son and three brothers. Mom was born in Gladstone, N.D., on Dec. 14, l916, to Peter and Magdelena Arnold on the family homestead. Growing up the oldest of eight brothers and one sister. She always talked about the fun they had and the hard work living on the farm. Mom loved school (and in later years went on to get her GED), she had to quit school in the eighth grade after her mother passed away, taking on the responsibility of eight boys and the farm. Mom enjoyed working, whether it was in her garden or at the Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls, where she was in housekeeping for 17 years. Before that, she worked at the Ideal Laundry for 21 years. She loved to read many books. She especially loved the history of Montana and the adventures of Lewis and Clark. She crocheted, embroidered many tablecloths, doilies and pillowcases. Besides being a avid swimmer, she loved to dance. Mom was very proud of her grandchildren and enjoyed teaching her granddaughter how to crochet. Her dream was to be a nurse and always encouraged her grandchildren to further their education. She was happy that all her grandchildren loved church. She was a member of the Holy Family Church in Great Falls, where she loved taking her grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Eunice Ashes Private Care Home.
Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at St Pius X Church, 18th Street West and Broadwater Avenue. The mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at the church. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the charity of your choice.
