Katherine “Kay” Armbrust, 71, Belfield, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center. Katherine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan on Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 1 p.m., MDT. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, with a rosary & vigil at 3 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Katherine Kanski was born June 23, 1938 in Billings County, the daughter of John and Polly (Paluck) Kanski.
Kay married Joseph C. Armbrust on June 3, 1957 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, north of Belfield. Together they farmed and raised their family on the Armbrust farm until 1998 when they moved into Belfield. Katherine was a devoted mother and grandmother, her children and grandchildren were a very important part of her life. She enjoyed her games and doing puzzles.
Kay is survived by husband of 52 years, Joe C.; their six children, JoLynn (LeeRoy) Roller, Belfield, Leon (Laura) Armbrust, Belfield, Sandra Armbrust, Dickinson, LeEtta (Pat) Krebs, Beach, Lori (Josh) Wagner, South Heart, and Michael (Amy) Armbrust, Victoria, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Kristen Roller, Christopher Roller, Laura (Steve) Fetting, Cody Armbrust, Mandi Armbrust, Josh Armbrust, Devin Krebs, Channing Wagner, Jordan Wagner, Addison Wagner, Caleb Armbrust, Caitlin Armbrust, Colton Armbrust and Camryn Armbrust; one sister, Betty (Marvin) Gregory, South Heart; two brothers, Sylvester Kanski, Fairfield, and Steven Kanski, Bloomington, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin daughters, an infant grandson, three brothers, Mike, Marvin and Joe, and seven sisters, Helen, Ann, Mary, Josephine, Margaret, Gertie and Rosie.
