Shirley (Egly) Armbrust, 86, Mandan, passed away Dec. 16, 2012, at Sanford Sunset Drive Care Center, Mandan. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Jack Carlson officiating. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Shirley Ann (Egly) Armbrust was born Dec. 14, 1926, to John and Edna Egly. She was raised northwest of Belfield. She married Frank Armbrust on Jan. 3, 1948. They raised five daughters and two sons. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and teacher. She taught in Stark, Slope and Billings counties for 25 years. Her passion in life was to be a memorable mentor and to make a difference in someone’s life. Shirley also worked alongside Frank on their ranch north of Belfield, before moving south of Mandan.
She was loved dearly and will be missed. We were all very blessed to have shared in her everlasting memories and life.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Frank, Mandan; six children, Carol “Punky” (Tom) Alesi, Woodbury, Conn., Rocky Armbrust, Dickinson, Bonnie Armbrust (Roger), Mandan, Connie O’Brien, Belfield, Marlene (Steve) Tveito, Mandan, and Tammy (Greg) Metz, Roseville, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene; her son, Bucky; her parents; two brothers; one sister; one granddaughter; and one grandson.
