Frank was born to George and Elizabeth (Miller) Armbrust on April 19, 1924 on the family farm northeast of Belfield, ND. As a young man he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. On January 3, 1948 Frank married the love of his life Shirley Egly. Together they ranched northwest of Belfield until 1980, at which time he moved to Fort Rice and ranched there until 2008 before moving to Mandan. Frank took pride in his cattle. He also served on the Billings County Selective Service Board, and has been a member of the William C Blair Post #144 Belfield, ND and the Mandan American Legion. Frank was outgoing and social, would tip his hat and open a door like the good ole cowboys used to do. He enjoyed a good cup of coffee while visiting with friends and family. He also loved to play pinochle, whist, and other card games especially with his grandchildren. Frank and Shirley traveled throughout the United States and enjoyed stopping at feed lots and checking out the crops on their way to Arizona for the winter months.
