The funeral for Ida Meidinger, Wishek, ND will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 2:30 PM at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Wishek, ND with Rev. Gordon Bakan officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 8:00 PM at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Wishek, ND. Burial will be at St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery, Wishek, ND.
Ida was born to George and Katherina (Woehl) Schilling on March 3, 1919 on the family homestead northwest of Venturia, ND. She attended country school where she graduated from the eighth grade. She was baptized June 8, 1919 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Zeeland ND, and was confirmed June 18, 1933 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, rural Zeeland.
Ida was united in marriage to Gottfried A. Meidinger on September 26, 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Wishek. Following their marriage, they made their home with Gottfried’s parents before establishing their own farm home in 1942. One child, Sandra, was born to Ida & Gottfried in 1954. They built a home in Wishek in 1960 and continued to farm until 1976. Ida worked for Wishek Dry Cleaners and for the Boschee Motel until 1981. Gottfried passed away April 11, 1995.
Ida moved to the Wishek Living Center apartments in the spring of 2007 and into the Wishek Living Center in 2012.
Ida was active in the Rachel Circle, WELCA, and quilting at St. Luke’s. She also enjoyed her activities in the Wishek Senior Club. She took pleasure in caring for her home, cooking, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, music, and country-side rides. Her greatest enjoyment came from visits from her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ida died Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the Wishek Living Center, Wishek, ND. Ida was 96 years old.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Ron) Hoffman of Wishek, her grandchildren Ryan (Lisa) Hoffman of Fargo, ND, Katie (Justin) Kramer of Lamoure, ND, and Tara (Michael) Rau of Bismarck, ND, and her great-grandchildren Molly & Leah Hoffman, Jake & Lily Kramer, James & Natalie Rau, and one sister Christine Ottmar of Springfield, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gottfried, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
