Birth: Jul. 27, 1920 Chesaning Saginaw County Michigan, USA Death: Apr. 10, 2007 Lima Allen County Ohio, USA Jim, 86, of Spencerville, died at 12:15 p.m., at St. Rita's Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born to O.F. and Edna (Cantly) Walker. On June 30, 1945, he married Beatrice "Bea" Hotz, who preceded him in death. On Nov. 18, 1995, he married Ann Birt, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Robert (Elaine), Spencerville; a daughter, Patricia (John) Etzler, Middle Point; five step-children, Frank (Judy) Kohn, Lima, Paul (Debora) Birt, St. Marys, Linda (Mike) McMurray, Wapakoneta, Jimmy (Joyce) Birt, Pennsylvania and Sharon (Tom) McCormick, Spencerville; eight grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Harmon, St. Johns, MI. Deceased are two brothers; and three sisters. He was the owner and operator of Spencerville Body Shop for 28 years and of the Spencerville Radiator Shop for nine years. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Spencerville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 through 1944 and was a life-long member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 of Spencerville, where he had served as commander for two years, first vice commander for one year and as trustee for eight years. He also participated in the color guard for several years. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of America in St. Marys, a life member of the Northwest Ohio Field and Stream Association of Spencerville, the Lake Resort Club of Wapakoneta and the Royal Oak Resort Club. He was a former member of the Wapakoneta Eagles Aerie 691. He was also an avid fisherman and bowler and C.B. user with the handle "Body Man." Funeral services at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with the Rev. John Fleck officiating.
