Obituary of Magdalena Oberlander

Magdalena Oberlander, 84, 420 E. Main Ave., Bismarck, died Feb 23, 1994, at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, 1-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday at Boelter Funeral Home, Bismarck, and will continue at the church one hour before services.
Magdalena Graf was born Dec. 28, 1909, at Streeter, the daughter of George and Margaret (Guthmiller) Graf. She was raised and educated in Streeter. Magdalena married Paul Oberlander, April 6, 1931 on her family's farm. They farmed in the Medina area until 1947 when they moved to Bismarck. Since moving to Bismarck, and until the time of her retirement in the mid-1970s, she worked for Patterson Hotel and the State of North Dakota at the State Capitol. Paul died March 11, 1985. She moved to the Patterson Place in the late 1980s.
Magdalena loved to do gardening and handiwork. The Oberlander's were among one of the first families at Faith Lutheran Church, and she belonged to the Friendship Circle.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, LeRoy and Jenell, Dickinson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Sally and Richard Wagner, Bismarck, and Martha Stoltz, Jamestown; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Agnes Graf, Dilworth, Minn.; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Allen and Karla, all of Fridley, Minn.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
