Larus Ronald Thordarson. Ron was born on October 24, 1930 at Walhalla, North Dakota to Larus T. Thordarson and Johanna (Sturlaugson) Thordarson. He passed away on January 28, 2010.
He was raised on the family farm at Svold, North Dakota. Ron is a graduate of Park River High School's Class of 1949.
He joined the United States Navy during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge after four years of service.
Ron married Theresa Hecker in Seattle, Washington on June 6, 1959. He was a machinist in the greater Seattle area for most of his working life. He finished his career with the outstand ing folks at Cascade Machinery and Electric.
His wife, Theresa preceded him in death on January 11, 2002.
Survived by his sister, Margaret (Gene) Busch; children, Emily, Stephen, Howard (Tammie), and Allen. Ron's grandchildren are Javen Thordarson and Aryonne Thordarson.
Larus was a recipient of the Golden Acorn Award by the Seattle School District's James Monroe PTA for his work as a parent . He served on the Model Cities and Title One committees.
In lieu of flowers please send memo rial contributions to Childrens' Hospital and Medical Center, the Seattle Public Schools Foundation or do a kind deed for a neighbor or friend. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Saint Alphonsus Church, 5816 15th Ave. N.W., Seattle WA 98107 followed by reception.
