Eva Rebel was born February 15, 1920 on the family farm south of Richardton to Anton and Katherine (Goetz) Rebel. Eva was raised on the family farm and attended country school. Being the oldest daughter, Eva helped raise her younger brothers and sisters while her parents worked the farm. She was a wonderful seamstress, and had sewn many coats and dresses for her sisters. After Eva left the farm she worked at various jobs in Dickinson. Eva met Edward Ficek at a dance and they were married on June 1, 1948 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church south of Richardton. Eva and Edward moved to their own farm near Jamestown in 1949 and farmed it together until they retired in 1975 and moved to Dickinson.
Eva was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling and cards but her most enjoyable times were those spent with her family. She loved to bake, especially poppy seed rolls and pies.
Eva is survived by her son, Ervin (Karen) Ficek, Red Oak, Iowa; her daughter, Sharon (Barry) Sonsthagen, Aurora, Colo.; four grandchildren, Kyle (Jennifer) Ficek, Omaha, Neb., Tracy (Nathan) Clute, Fort Dodge, Iowa, Joel (Neilea) Ficek, Fremont, Neb., and Ethan Ficek, Red Oak, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Tony (Lorraine) Rebel, Richardton; and five sisters, Helen Froehlich, Katherine Raab Harrington, Marie (George) Morel, Eleanor (Cliff) Walter all of Dickinson and Betty Kurtz, Sacramento, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1979; three brothers and their wives, Matt (Annie) Rebel, Nick (Pauline) Rebel, and Joe (Louise) Rebel; one infant sister, Ann Rebel and five brothers-in-law, Harry Froehlich, Steve Raab, John N. Koppinger, John N. Kurtz, and Larry Harrington.
