Kimmle, age 82, lifelong resident of O'Fallon, Ill., born July 5, 1930, in O'Fallon, Illinois, to Edward E. and Hilda, nee Oelschlager, Kimmle, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.Al was a 1948 graduate of O'Fallon Township High School. He attended Brown Business College and went to work in the office of the Pullman Company at Union Station in St. Louis. He was a member of the Missouri Air National Guard and left employment at Pullman when called to active duty in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1951 until 1953. He graduated from Belleville Junior College in 1956, and began employment as an Engineering Technician with the Illinois Department of Transportation where he worked 35 years in the Construction Department, a job he truly enjoyed. He was a member of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers and the local retirees' club, a member of American Legion Post #137, and a lifetime member of the O'Fallon Sportsmen's Club. Al loved fishing, playing bridge, pinochle, and rummy, and the weekly poker game with his buddies.He married Barbara Koch on March 16, 1957. He was a loving and devoted husband and a loving and devoted father to their daughter Cynthia.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward A. Kimmle, and his parents-in-law, William H. and Regina, nee Hemmer, Koch. He was also preceded in death by his and Barb's beloved friends, bridge partners and fishing and traveling companions, Blackie and Mary Berger, and by his beloved fishing buddies Bob Gaines and Gene Jones.Surviving are his wife Barbara, nee Koch, Kimmle and daughter Cynthia Kimmle, both of O'Fallon; sister-in-law Mildred, nee Ahring, Kimmle of O'Fallon; brother-in-law William J. (Jeanne, nee Booth) Koch of Fairview Heights; nieces Kay (Dr. Mark S.) Friederich of Troy, Ill., Karen (Dr. Dean) Drake of Fairview Heights, Ill., Dr. Kendall (Dr. James) Wachter of Carterville, Ill., and nephew Kent (Gail) Kimmle of Lebanon, Ohio, and many extended family members.Memorial donations may be made to St. Nicholas Catholic Church Building Fund or to the charity of donor's choice.Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.Funeral: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon. Albert A. Kimmle, age 82, lifelong resident of O?Fallon, Ill., born July 5, 1930, in O?Fallon, Illinois, to Edward E. and Hilda, nee Oelschlager, Kimmle, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 2013, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.
Al was a 1948 graduate of O?Fallon Township High School. He attended Brown Business College and went to work in the office of the Pullman Company at Union Station in St. Louis.
