Minnie was born July 6, 1924, to Christ and Elizabeth (Barth) Wetzstein in Timmer. She attended Mandan High School and married Louie M. Schmidt on Jan. 29, 1946, in Mandan. The family moved in 1955 to a home built by Louie and his two brothers-in-law where they then raised 13 children. Louie died in 1994.
She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Minnie was a talented mother who could sew any kind of clothing not only for her children but for weddings and customers through the years. Minnie was an excellent cook and her family enjoyed all the kinds of noodles, breads, cakes, donuts and pies that she baked. The family enjoyed visits to her family farm, the Mildenberger farm and outings to collect chokecherries and plums, as well as family picnics. Her hobbies included, crocheting, cross stitching, embroidery, reading and playing cards with family and friends. One of her favorite pastimes was maintaining her vegetable and flower gardens. She was also active in the Mandan Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for many years. We will all miss her very much.
