Edward Gruebele 79, Jamestown, died July 1, 2003 at his home. Mr Gruebele was born November 18, 1923, near Pettibone, ND, the son of Johann "John" and Margaret (Guthmiller) Gruebele. He attended school in the Pettibone area. In 1944 he joined the US Army, serving as a cook in the Philippines. He was discharged on November 28, 1946, from Ft Lewis, Washington. He married Amelia Remmick on November 2, 1946 at the Petersville Church north of Pettibone. From 1946 - 1965 they farmed in North Dakota, including the Lake Williams, Courtenay and Wimbledon areas. In 1966 they moved to Wimbledon, where he worked for the Jack's Red Owl in the meat department. From 1968-1973 he worked for the Gackle Packing Company. In 1973 they moved to Jamestown, where he worked for the North Dakota State Hospital as the meat supervisor until retiring in 1979. He was a member of St John's Lutheran Church, Jamestown VFW and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, playing pinochle, cooking and baking.
He is survived by his wife; Two daughters, Carol (Lowell) Jordahl, Fargo, ND Colleen (Tom) Musgrave, Valley City ND; three sons, Dallas (Linda) Valley City ND, Larry (Kathy), Jamestown, and Cal (Gayle) Breckenridge MN. 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ludwig; a sister Deloris; and two grandchildren.
Services 10am St John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Ellingsen.
