Obituary Arizona Republic (Jan. 20, 2010)
Mary Ann Washburn, 66, of Glendale, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2010, following a one month diagnosis of a brain tumor.
"Mitzi" as she was affectionally known since a young girl, being raised in Mandan, ND, was married to Gene Washburn for 24 years. Mitzi and Gene were very happily married until Gene's passing in 2007. They lived in various states as Gene's work took him around the country with the end of Gene's career and life being in North Dakota. Mitzi then moved to Arizona to live near her three sons, Marty, Kalum and Joel, along with their wives, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Sally, and brothers, Raymond, Dennis, Jim and Monte.
Known for her sense of humor, good advice, selfless giving, inspiration, and good heart, she will be so missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. She touched everyone's life with such deep meaning, even animals sought her company and stayed near her. We will miss her very deeply until we are reunited with her again. A very gentle person, she accepted her diagnosis with dignity and grace as she accepted all things that life gave to her . She made the world a better place for all in her life and is now "dusting the clouds" in heaven.
