Berger, 91, 107 Second Ave. N.E., Mandan, died April 21, 1997, in his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with burial in St. Anthony's Cemetery, St. Anthony. The Rev. Al Leary will officiate. Mike G. Berger was born July 11, 1905, in St. Anthony, the son of George and Margaret (Miller) Berger. Mike was raised and educated in the St. Anthony area. He married Barbara Helbling, Oct. 22, 1929, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Anthony. They farmed in the St. Anthony area until 1960 when they moved to Mandan. Mike worked as a guard for the North Dakota State Prison for seven years then, in 1970, he moved to Denver where he worked part-time as a security guard in a bank. He moved back to Mandan in 1988. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Virginia, Bismarck, and Cliff and Susan, Mandan; three daughters and one son-in-law, Sister Blandine, Texas, Janice Wise, Los Angeles, and Eunice and Dave Castor, Denver; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, George, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Adam, Mandan; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Magdalene and Phil Stoltz, Seattle, Clara and Adam Berger, Flasher, and Pauline and Henry Hoffman, Mandan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara, who died Sept. 9, 1988; one son, Eugene; three daughters, Martina, Leona and Ella Mae; five brothers, Nick, Marcus, Tim, Johnny and Jack; and two sisters, Francis and Katherine.
