Richard Sagmiller

Richard Sagmiller, 79, Bismarck, died April 13, 2003, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery, with military committal by Mandan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 707 and American Legion Post No. 40.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish vigil at 8 p.m.
Richard was born Jan. 21, 1924, in Mandan, N.D., the son of Joseph and Pauline (Kupper) Sagmiller. Richard was employed as a locomotive engineer for the Northern Pacific-Burlington Northern Railroad for 41 years. He retired form the railroad in 1984, at the age of 60.
Amongst his interests, he loved to golf and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette (Stradinger) Sagmilller; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Debbie, Mt. Airy, Md.; four grandchildren, Richard (Richie) Sagmiller, Mandan, and Daniel Sagmiller, Robert Sagmiller and Debra Rose Sagmiller, Mt. Airy; one brother, Desmond Sagmiller, Norco, Calif.; and two sisters, Virginia Froelich, Reseda, Calif., and Margaret Doerflein, Holiday, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his son, Greg; his parents, Joseph and Pauline Sagmiller; his sister, Edith; his brother, William; and baby, Adam.
