Esther Bender
Mobridge -- The funeral for Esther Bender, 92, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church at Linton, N.D. The Rev. David Warner will officiate.
Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Linton Cemetery. Myers Funeral Home of Linton is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
She died Monday, April 30, 2001, at the Mobridge Care Center.
Esther Ochsner was born May 25, 1908, to Fredrick and Christine (Haidle) Ochsner in Winona, N.D. When she was 12, she moved with her family to Linton.
She married Edward Bender on Aug. 7, 1929. They made their home on a farm two miles northwest of the Bender family farm. In 1971, they retired and moved to Linton. He died Jan. 9, 1996. She entered the Strasburg, N.D., Nursing Home in October 1996. She later moved to the Mobridge Care Center.
She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and walking.
Survivors include one son, Leslie (Cynthia) Bender of Blaine, Minn.; five daughters, Dolores (Donald) Jenkins and Virginia Kremer, both of Linton, Grace (Edward) Wold of Salem, Va., Lorna Gimbel of San Francisco and Elvira (Ray) Behrens of Wheatridge, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.
Casketbearers will be her grandsons: Kent Kremer, Aaron Gimbel, Jason Bender, Phillip Bender, Troy Bender and Jeff Wold.
The family prefers memorials to New Freedom Baptist Church, 6210 Fifth Ave., Selby, S.D. 57472.
