A funeral mass for Albert J. Tibor, 77, Independence, MO, formerly of Hebron, ND, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron with Father Arul Joseph celebrating.
Inurnment will follow in the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in rural Hebron.
Visitation for Albert will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 17 at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Hebron with a Rosary and Vigil service at 7 p.m.
Albert passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in Independence, MO.
Albert Joseph Tibor was born July 19, 1934 on the family farm in Grant County, the son of Joseph and Margaret (Hecker) Tibor. He grew up and attended country schools in Grant County and also in Oregon. As a young man he worked on the family farm.
In 1946 Bernie, Charlie and Albert along with their mother, began the Rhythm Cowboys. In 1955 the band developed into The Country Cousins, which operated until 1959. It then evolved into The Mavericks, which was the first band from the area to be on television.
Albert was married to Adeline Skalsky in June 1954. To this union ten children were born - Annamarie, Anthony, Andrew, Arthur, Arman, Annette, Angela, Ann-Margaret, Alan, and Alicia. The family made their home in Hebron.
Albert worked for Farmers Union and later Wylie Piano in Bismarck. Along with his family, he kept playing with the band on weekends.
In 1988 he was married to Judy Nielsen and they made their home in Independence, MO. Albert loved the country, farming and being on the tractor. He also enjoyed woodworking. Al worked at Sears in the tool department in Missouri until retiring. Albert was described as a gentle man.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, Independence, MO; sons Andy (Jeanine) Tibor, Williston; Art Tibor, Bismarck; Arman Tibor, Billings, MT, Alan (Heidi) Tibor, Mandan, ND, two step-sons; daughters; Annamarie (Don) Herrly, Watertown, SD, Annette (Scott) Woroniecki, Hebron, Ann-Margaret (Ken) Kitzan, Hebron, Alicia (Keith) Krein, Hebron; brothers Charles (Ardelle) Tibor, Francis (Shirley) Tibor, Gerard (Connie) Tibor, Harvey (Sandi) Tibor, all of Hebron, ND, Kurt (MaDonna) Tibor, Binford, ND, Larry (LeeAnn) Tibor, Scranton, ND; sisters Dorothy (Mike) Hauck, Gillette, WY, Irene (Robert) Mayer, Burlington, ND, Marie (Steve) Sletten, Hebron, ND, Noreen Tibor, Valley City, ND; sister-in-law, Lois Tibor, Fargo; 21 grandchildren – Benjamin (Michelle), Kaytlin, Mandy, Myka, McLean (Becky), Franklin, Brady, Alyssa, Tony, Michael (Magumi), Matthew (Marissa), Marshal, Angela, James, Devin, Jack, Sam, Kailey, Meghan (Walter), Allison (Eric), Zachary; four great-grandchildren, Taryn, Max, Maria and Madeline.
He was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Joseph; son Anthony; daughter Angela; brothers, Bernie and wife Darlene Tibor, Ernest Tibor, Jerome Tibor; father and mother-in-law, Madge and Joe Niece and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to the Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery Fund, St. Ann Catholic Church, 204 Park Street S., Hebron, ND 58638.
