ODIN — Greg A. Hekele, 49, died April 27 at his residence in Odin. He was born April 18, 1961, at Hoisington, the son of Joseph and Martha (Moeder) Hekele. He was a dairy farmer/stockman and was a rural Odin resident all his life.
Mr. Hekele was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2630, both of Odin.
Survivors include his father, Joseph, of Wilson; three brothers, Terry Hekele of Great Bend, and Joe Hekele and wife Tina and Mike Hekele and wife Kim, all of Odin; four sisters, Anne Beck and husband Allan and Joan Miller and husband Brian, all of Claflin, Jacque Phelan and husband Dennis of Rangely, Colo., and Angie Miller and husband Brock of Eudora; 23 nieces and nephews and eight great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Hekele, and a sister-in-law, Leota Hekele.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with Father Dwight Birket celebrant. Interment will be at the Holy Family Cemetery, Odin. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary service also today at 7 p.m., all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Donations to memorial funds for Father Don Debes's Missionary Work or for the Claflin Ambulance Fund may be made in care of the funeral home.
