Jacobs,85, died Thursday, March 16,2000 at the St. Rose Campus of the Central Kansas Medical Center of Great Bend. She was born to Michael P. and Mary K.(Ney)Schauf on Aug 4, 1914 in Dubuque, KS. Evelyn graduated from Dorrance, KS, High School in 1931. On Oct.28,1940, she married Lawrence E. Jacobs, in Dubuque. He preceded her in death 1-1-1988. Since moving from the farm near Dubuque in 1981, she had been a resident of Hoisington. A homemaker, Evelyn was a member of St.John the Evangelist Church and Altar Society in Hoisington; the Daughters of Isabella in Claflin; and was a former member of the St.Catherine Catholic Church, Christian Mother and Altar Society at Dubuque. Evelyn is survived by a sister, Marie Thomas;two sons, Michael E.(Tony)and Lawrence B.;two daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Miller and Joyce (Gilbert) Viets; and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Germain Schauf and her great-grandson, Jacob Wheaton. Family rosary,D of I rosary, and Vigil services were held Sunday,March 19. Funeral services were held Monday, March 20, 2000 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Dubuque, with Father Pascal Klein presiding. Burial was at St.Catherine Church Cemetery in Dubuque. Gifts are suggested for the St. Catherine Heritage Fund, Dubuque Catholic Cemetery Trust, or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, all in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.
