Description: I was Dwight's companion for 47 years. Dwight Hilliard
Gardiner did not die in Florida. He died in Farmington, New York on July
16, 2012. He is buried with my family in the Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery,
Bird-in-hand, Pennsylvania. Dwight was Catholic. He lived all his life
near where he was born, in Rochester, NY. He was a Professor of Psychology
at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

Gardiner, Dwight Hilliard, Ph.D.
Farmington: Went to the Lord on Monday, July 16, 2012, at home, after a 1 ½ year battle with bladder cancer. He was born August 10, 1919 to Margaret Neidinger Gardiner and Dwight Murray Gardiner. He is survived by his life's partner, Barbara Evelyn Herr, and his first cousin, Elaine Pugliese, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
He attended Aquinas High School and received his Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Psychology from the University of Rochester, where he was Instructor at the Prince Street Women's Campus. He spent his career at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY, where he was Professor and Chair of Psychology for many years. He taught until he was 80. He was a member of the Geneva Country Club, an assistant at the Genesee Valley Golf Course while a graduate student, and Technical Director of the Swain Ski School in the 1960's. He was also a Navy veteran of WWII.

Friends may call WEDNESDAY 2-4 & 7-9 at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc. (3325 Winton Road South). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon, NY at 10 AM on THURSDAY. Interment will be in Stumptown Mennonite Cemetery in Lancaster, PA. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hobart and William Smith Colleges, 615 South Main Street, Geneva, NY 14456 for their Scholarship Fund.
