Following an illness of some two years, rendered more serious by a stroke of paralysis in January, Mrs. Edward Berger died Sunday morning at 8 oclock at the family home in the west part of town. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Grace U. B. church, of which deceased was a member. Rev. Kessinger, the pastor, preached the sermon. Interment was in the Bremen cemetery.
Emma Katherine Carbiener, daughter of John and Katherine Carbiener, was born in Union township, St. Joseph county, September 23, 1866. On August 12, 1886, she was united in marriage with Edward Berger. Five children were born to them --- Mrs. Philip Haney of Grayville, Ill.; Floyd Clayton, Ralph Herbert, Mrs. Raymond France and Ruth Annette Berger --- all of whom, with the husband and four grandchildren, survive their mother. Mrs. Berger lived her entire life in this vicinity, and will be mised [sic] and mourned by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
