Birth: 1854
Death: 1915
Mary was the daughter of German immigrants. She married William Beyler four days before Christmas on 21 Dec 1878 in Marshall County. They would bring two sons into the world, Clinton O., born in August of 1882, and Jesse Edwin, born on 13 Dec 1883, just in time for Christmas.
I found the family on the 1880 Census, living in Plymouth’s Center Township, Marshall County. William (Byler or the record), aged 25, was farming. Mary, aged 25, was keeping house. Son Clinton wouldn’t make his appearance for a couple more years.
Because of the loss of the 1890 Census, we have to fast forward to 1900. The family was still living in Plymouth’s Center Township. William, his surname finally spelled correctly as Beyler, aged 46, was busy with the farm. Mary, aged 46, reported that she had had two children, and that both were living. Indeed, there with their parents were Clinton, aged 17, and Jesse, aged 15.
They were still in Center Township when the 1910 Census came around. William, aged 55, was semi-retired. Mary, aged 55, again reported that both of her children were alive. Only son Jesse, aged 26, was still living at home with his parents. He had taken on the responsibilities of the operation of the family farm. Son Clinton had married Blanche M. Richey in 1902.
Five years after that census, Mary died just after the New Year on 18 Jan 1915. William did not even last the year without his helpmate and companion, also departing this earth in 1915 at age 60.
