Buening, 89, of Effingham, died at 10:34 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. Anthony?s Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Sigel. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham. There will be a combined Council of Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4:30 followed by a parish wake service at 6 p.m. Memorial may be made to St. Michael?s parish. Virginia was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Jasper County, the daughter of Albert and Katherine (Meinhart) Hutmacher. She married Norbert ?Jim? Buening June 3, 1944, and he survives. Virginia was a homemaker and member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Sigel, St. Michael?s Council of Catholic Women and Teutopolis Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1711. She is survived by her husband, Norbert ?Jim? of Effingham; sons, Michael (wife, LeAnn) of Teutopolis and Steve (wife, Cathy) of Mason; daughter, Kay (Larry) Vahling of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Vicki Willenborg, Kimberly Rieman, Troy Althoff, Tracy Althoff, Kelly Heuerman, Michael Buening, Stephanie Kramer and Shawn Buening; sixteen great-grandchildren; twin sister, Melinda Burrell of Effingham; and son-in-law, Jim Althoff of Effingham.
