After her husband's death, she continued to raise her seven children and started college. Within six years, she had earned her associate's degree at the College of St. Mary, her bachelor's in nursing at Creighton University and her master's in nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Later she earned a master's of pastoral ministry at Creighton. The Omahan retired in 1999 after 22 years of teaching nursing at Creighton. Patricia M. Ehrhart died Tuesday at Creighton University Medical Center, said son Mark Ehrhart of Omaha. She was 79 and had a pulmonary disorder, he said. Patricia Ehrhart was active in many health care pursuits. "She was proud of what she was doing on the Douglas County Board of Mental Health," where she was an alternate member, her son said. "She helped develop and was active as a parish nurse at Holy Cross Catholic Church," he said. He said parishioners called her with questions, and she guiding them toward the care they needed. She co-wrote and edited a psychiatric nursing textbook and wrote articles for Nurse Educator Magazine, her son said. Other survivors include her children David Ehrhart of Fort Worth, Texas, Diane Ehrhart of Omaha, Kevin Ehrhart of Omaha, Pam Ehrhart of Omaha, John Ehrhart of Erie, Colo., and Sue Gillum of Omaha; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Patricia Ehrhart was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Ehrhart, former Douglas County surveyor and engineer.
