Phillip Brockel Sr., a resident of Campbell County since 1889, died at his home. He came to America in 1888 and lived at Alexandria, South Dakota, for a few months prior to coming to Campbell County. Mr. Brockel's health was failing rapidly. During his illness, he was taken care of by his son Fred and his wife.
Brother Phillip Brockel was born December 21, 1862, at Peterstahl, South Russia, and died July 05, 1944, at 81 years, six months and 14 days. He married Christine Kallenberger in 1887. She entered her eternallife October 22, 1927. Sister Brockel came to America with her family in 1888. Brother Brockel was baptizedand joined the congregation of the Herreid church by Reverend Gollings while the Pastor was a gueat minister at that church.
The union of brother and sister Brockel bore 18 children, ten who died before the father. Brother Brockel leaves to mourn his passing, eight children, 52 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; three sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law, two brothers and three sisters.
Services from the Herreid Church on Sunday, July 09, 1944. Burial was in Gnadenfeld Cemetery east of Mound City.
