Lorena Aus, 86, Minot, died Sunday, October 7, 2007 in a Minot nursing home.
Lorena Adams was born January 26, 1921 on the family farm, near Kramer, ND, to Henry and Lydia (Brandt) Adams. She was raised and attended country school in the Kramer area.
As a young adult she was a cook on cook cars for the threshing crews. She later worked at the San Haven Tuberculosis Hospital, near Dunseith, ND and then was employed as a supervisor at Woolworths Department Store in Minot.
Lorena married Burton Aus. Following their marriage they lived and farmed south of Lansford. They later moved to Minot and then to Minnesota. They divorced in 1964 and she moved back to Minot. Lorena owned and operated the Eastwood Park apartment house for a number of years. She worked at Triangle Dress Shop and began employment at Trinity Homes as a housekeeper, where she worked for 18 years until her retirement in 1984.
Lorena was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in everything that she did. She was an honest woman, never wavering. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing with her family. She loved attending auction sales and garage sales, and enjoyed holding her own garage sales. Lorena enjoyed music and crafts. She was a member of the Harvest Reformed Church, Minot, the Moose Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Those who shared in her life: Sons, Gerald (Myrna) Adams, Mesquite, NV, Alvin (Lin) Aus, Grand Island, NE, and Kelvin (Elly) Aus, Garner, IA; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby (Lars) Sivertson, Lake Metigoshe, and Pearl (Harry) Nelson, Lansford; brother, Herman Adams, Beaverton, OR, who passed away one day after Lorena, on October 8, 2007; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Lorena was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Kenny Korgel; siblings, Herb Adams, Irene Stickland, Edith Hoff, Viola Bruins Wiess, Rosie Lauckner, Anna Kuebler and Reinhold "Rhynie" Adams.
Funeral: Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday, from noon to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND
