Paul E. Genter was born on June 28, 1946, to Elmer and Ida (Feickert) Genter in Edgeley, ND. He was raised in Monango, ND, and graduated from Monango High School in 1966.
Paul started his law enforcement career in Medina, ND, and served as a patrol member for several years in the Driscoll and Sterling areas before joining the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department in 1974; Corporal Paul wore his badge No. 4807 with pride. As a member of the warrants/extradition team, he was responsible for returning criminals to North Dakota. He was a diver for the search and rescue team, a sniper for the Burleigh County SWAT Team, and was instrumental in starting the Cops and Kids Fishing Derby.
Paul's "fifteen minutes of fame" came when he was a stunt double for Beau Bridges in the movie "Dangerous Company".
Paul married the love of his life, Lisa Lang, on February 20, 2003. Together they enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce and beautiful flowers from their bountiful garden. Paul loved to cook and was a chef like no other. They enjoyed drifting in their boat down the Missouri River and relaxing on the sandbars with their two beautiful Brittany Spaniels by their side. Paul was an avid hunter and excellent fisherman and could not wait for the Season Opener's to be with his best buddies and family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; sons, Jason (Krystal) Genter and Justin (Nicole) Genter; daughters, Christy (Gabriel) Hill and Jill (Dion) Joura; father, Elmer Genter; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sonya and Myron Mosset; brothers, David (Nancy) Genter and Steve Genter; and sisters, Gayle (Don) Haussler and Sally (Gary) Brovold. He has nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.
