Joanne W. McGann, 84, of Natrona Heights, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 20, 2014. She was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William and Marie (Mansmann) Weber and grew up in East Liberty. She graduated from St. Raphael High School in 1947, Mt. Mercy (Carlow) College in 1951 and received her master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1953. After working as a retail buyer for several years, she married John G. McGann in 1957. They eventually settled in Natrona Heights and raised seven children. Joanne was very active in Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and School, serving as the school librarian and parish secretary. She loved reading, served on the board of the Community Library of Allegheny Valley, was a member of the Tarentum Book Club, acting as corresponding secretary. Joanne was also a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels for many years and enjoyed playing bridge (and all other card games) with her many friends. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind to cherish her memory and carry on the faith her children, Bill (Susan), of Kent, Ohio, Greg (Megan Huff), of Philadelphia, Lisa (John) Kemerer, of Jeannette, Cindy (Pat) Magdinec, of Valencia, Paul, of Savannah, Ga., Bob (Carleen), of New Castle, and Michael (Janine), of Cary, N.C.; her grandchildren, Molly and Katie McGann, Josh Ferrar and Mason Kemerer, Ryan and Casey Magdinec, Liam and Bain McGann, Luke, Seth and Ben McGann; and by her two sisters, Claire Prendergast, of Philadelphia, and Patricia Saar, of California. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John G. McGann, Feb. 21, 2012; and by her son-in-law, Ray Ferrar. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the CICHOLSKI-ZIDEK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1522 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights, 724-224-8688, where a blessing service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joanne may be made to Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament School, 1526 Union Ave., Natrona Heights, PA 15065 or to the Meals-On-Wheels, P.O.
