Scherle, 83, of Santa Maria, Calif., and formerly of Mobridge SD, passed away May 5, 2013, in Santa Maria. Erna L. Scherle was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klipfel on Oct. 22, 1929, in Ashley, N.D. She married Ruben Scherle on July 11, 1948. They farmed the homestead until 1966 at which time they moved to focus on Scherle Sales Construction with offices in Aberdeen, Mobridge and Bismarck, N.D. In 1994 they moved to Santa Maria to be near family. Erna was an active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior and enjoyed her work at Costco since the mid-1990s. Erna is survived by six children, 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
