Herter, sr., 53, of 1724 East Lawrence avenue, a Springfield resident for the last 12 years, died at 10:20 a.m., Sept. 13, 1946, at St. John's hospital. Mr. Herter was born on April 24, 1893 in Mt. Pulaski, a son of Jacob and Catherine Herter. On July 10, 1912, he married Miss Cora May Slocum. Before he moved to Springfield, he operated a bakery in Kenney for 10 years and a bakery in Bloomington for 10 years. He was associated with the Raleigh Products Co. at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Patrick's parish. He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Catherine Perdun, Peoria; Mrs. Louise Blankenship, Mrs. Anna Marie Russell, Miss Helena and Miss Rose Mary Herter, all of Springfield; two sons, Truman Frederick Herter, jr., and John Jacob Herter, both of Springfield; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were at St. Patrick's church. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery.
