Aberdeen - Ervin Meyer, 84, of Aberdeen and formerly of the Chelsea and Northville area, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, with Rev. Jon Damaska officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Thursday and from 8-10 a.m. on Friday. Ervin Meyer was born March 9, 1922, to Julius and Louise (Heckenliable) Meyer in rural Armour, S.D. As a young child, his parents moved to many different areas and he spent most of his childhood in the Holabird, S.D., area. Ervin received his education at Holabird. He worked as a farm hand and, in 1941, moved to the Faulkton area, where he worked on a farm. He married Veda Olson on Aug. 2, 1942. In 1943 they moved to the Chelsea, S.D., area where they lived until 1982, when they moved into Northville. Ervin continued to farm with his son, Dick, until 1994, when he retired due to ill health. In 2002 they moved into the Parkside Apartments in Aberdeen. Ervin became a resident of Bethesda Home of Aberdeen on April 12, 2004, where he was noted by everyone for his beautiful smile. Veda died on Sept. 12, 2005. Ervin attended Northwestern United Methodist Church at Mellette. Ervin is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann (Gene) Schlosser, Aberdeen; two sons, Raymond Meyer, Lincoln, Neb., and Dick (Janell) Meyer, Northville, S.D.; eight grandchildren, Scott Schlosser, Steven Schlosser, Patrick Larson, Joy Barnett, Heather Childers, Justin Meyer, Mat Meyer and Angela Keller; two great-grandchildren, Austin Schlosser and Allysa Childers; three brothers, Delbert Meyer, Redfield, S.D., Robert (Bonnie) Meyer, Orient, S.D., and Fred Meyer, Hecla, S.D.; three sisters, Charmain (Don) Schmile, Albuquerque, N.M., Leona Brooks, Carlsbad, Calif., and Shirley Leigh, Hot Springs, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; an infant son; one daughter, Dora Mae Larson; two brothers, Leo and Wilbur; and one sister, Delores Shepherd. Casketbearers will be Don Carda, Ben Mallett, Tom Carda, Jerry Zerbel, John Forsyth and Lloyd Bierman.
