PURCHASE, VICTOR R. "Vic" Mr. Victor R. "Vic" Purchase, 88, passed away at home surrounded by his family Friday morning, January 30, 2015. Born May 14, 1926 to Ray and Mabel (Culp) Purchase, he was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Vic was a communicant member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, a member of Don Rea Post VFW, and one of the first members of Norton Shores Fire Department Canteen 450. He retired as a salesman at Sears, but had also worked at Teledyne Continental Motors and several other businesses. His SURVIVORS include his wife of 67 years, the former Alice St. Charles; children: Vickie (Russ) Reed, Kathy (Scott) Secrest, David (Kari) Purchase, Mike (Cherie) Purchase, Sueann (Ken Woller) Vokal, and Joe (Sally) Purchase; 12 grandchildren, and 11.5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, identical twin brother, Virgil Purchase, with whom Vic spent his entire Navy career, and a son-in-law, Kevin Vokal. Vic loved to golf, play cards, hunt and fish. He bowled with the same group at Maple Lanes for 40 years; once held a perfect cribbage hand, and sunk a hole-in-one at age 86. As a woodworker, he was also known for the Uncle Sam's and other lawn ornaments that he made, displayed in his yard, and sold. VISITATION with the Purchase family will be from 10-11 A.M. Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church followed by a MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as Celebrant, followed by Military Rites and a luncheon. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
