Funeral Mass for Mary Margaret “Margie” (Gerstle) Buchheit, 85, will be at St. Gabriel Church, Louisville, at 10 a.m. Tuesday followed by burial in St. Michael Cemetery. She died at her home at The Bennett Place in New Albany, Oct. 31, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband William R. “Bill” Buchheit, her parents John and Minnie Gerstle and sister Wilhelmina “Willie” Pohl.
Survivors include her daughters, Anne Clayton and husband, David, of Shepherdsville and Teresa Klinkner and husband, Eric, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; sons Joe and wife, Paula, of Ashland and Paul of New Albany; grandson Ryan Buchheit and wife, Jen, of Suffolk, Va., and their three children, Joseph, Ethan and Evan; granddaughters Beth Anne Bieckert and husband, Michael, of Lexington, Angela Bensing and husband, Chris, of Louisville, Emily Clayton, Keri Lynn Catching and husband, Nathan, of Killeen, Texas, Victoria Buchheit of New Albany and Meriel Klinkner.
Margie was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church where she served as the president of the Golden Age Club, she served as a Hospice volunteer for 15 years and was retired from both PNC and UPS. She graduated from Bellarmine University in 1996.
Margie’s family wishes to thank the loving staff of the Bennett House.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Monday, at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
