Obituary of Virginia Pesarek
Virginia V. Pesarek
GENEVA- Virginia V. Pesarek, 88, passed away suddenly after a very brief illness on Mon. (Nov. 11, 2013), at Geneva General Hospital. In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sat. (Nov. 23), at Resthaven Cemetery, Phelps, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Beverly Animal Shelter 50 East River St. Waterloo, N.Y. 13165, "Happy Tails" Humane Society of Ontario County 2976 County Road 48 Canandaigua, NY 14424, or the West Lake Road Fire Association 5214 West Lake Road Geneva, N.Y. 14456.
Virginia was born on Sept. 11, 1925 in Clifton Springs, N.Y. and was a daughter of the late Peter L. and Mary Anna (Schied) Verdehem. She worked as an Occupational Therapist employed by the Newark Developmental Center for 21 years. Virginia was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Winnek Post 396 in Geneva, the Newark Developmental Center Retirees "Top of the Hill Gang", the Lyons Home Bureau and the Eureka Grange in Lyons for over 50 years. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and patched everyone's blue jeans. Virginia loved living on the lake and spending time with everyone and anyone who came to the lake.
She is survived by her sons, Steve (Karen) Pesarek of Geneva and Joseph (Lynette) Pesarek of Palmyra; brother, Robert Verdehem of Geneva; sisters, Marcia Verstraete of Newark, Arlene Murphy of Rochester and Shirley (Joel) Caves of PA; grandchildren, Stephen Leone, Krista (Kevin) Root, David Pesarek, and Brad (Laurel) Pesarek; great-grandchildren, Vincente Leone, Nicholas Root, Reese Pesarek, Ashton Pesarek and Finn Pesarek; many nieces and nephews. Virginia was predeceased by her son, John Pesarek; sisters, Rose Adams, Lillian Wilson and Carolyn Wehle.
