Francis Dale Burkhart, 72, of Mapleton died Monday, Feb. 23, 1998, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Burkhart was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Hornick, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Violet (Van Cleve) Burkhart. He was baptized in the Christian faith.
He worked as a farm hand in the Holly Springs and Mapleton areas. He retired and lived in Mapleton.
Survivors include his special friend, Jo Ann Riessen of Mapleton, a brother and his wife, Clarence and Delores of Mapleton; a sister, Betty Jacoby of Mapleton; a half sister, Twila Oregon of Mapleton; and a half brother and his wife, Dean and Donna Payne of Castana, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Harley Payne.
