Laverne Huck, 86, Mandan, died April 30, 2015, at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Catholic Daughter rosary at 5 p.m. followed by a parish vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
Laverne was born on April 11, 1929, to Martin and Eva (Barnhardt) Mosbrucker in Oliver County. She married Kasper J. Huck Jr. on Nov. 19, 1951, in Center. Since Kasper was in construction they moved around a lot through North Dakota and Montana. They moved to Mandan in 1961. Laverne was a loving and generous person with her time and talents. She loved to visit with people and helped when asked. She was a Senior Companion and did home health care and day care. She was a big gardener and canned the fruits of her labor. She was a wonderful cook; German potato salad, snow balls, homemade french fries, waffles and any German dish with her homemade noodles were just a few of the families favorite that Laverne made for them. She was also an active member of Catholic Daughters and the Church of St. Joseph.
Laverne will be deeply missed by her daughters, Rachelle (James) Markel, Rayette (Jan) Fasching, and Raylynn Huck, all of Mandan, and Raydene (Duane) Zimmerman and Raynee (Rod) Morrell, both of Bismarck; her son, Raynard, Mandan; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Wilbert (Marie) Mosbrucker and Lyle (Karen) Mosbrucker, both of Center; her brother-in-law, Melvin Geiger, Minot; and her sister-in-law, Roslie Mosbrucker, Mandan.
Laverne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kasper in 2000; her son, Raymond; her sister, Karen Geiger; and her brother, Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
