Arthur Haag, 72, Underwood, formerly of Mandan, died Aug. 7, 2003, in an Underwood nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Richard Hagestuen officiating. Burial will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery following the service, with military honors provided by VFW Post No. 707.
The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Arthur was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Mandan, the son of Peter J. and Matilda (Beehler) Haag. He was raised and educated in Mandan. He served in the Korean War, in the U.S. Navy, serving from March 12, 1948, through Sept. 19, 1952. After his discharge, Arthur moved to California, where he worked as a fork lift operator on the shipping docks. He moved back to the Mandan area five years ago, after retiring. At the time of his death, Arthur was a resident of the Prairie View Nursing Home in Underwood.
Arthur is survived by his mother, Matilda McCarty, Mandan; five children, Deb Kuntz, Flasher, Pam Shelton, Orange Park, Fla., Cindy Danford, Montana, and Bill Haag and Shelly Richter, both of Mandan; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and LaVerne Haag, Mandan, and Robert and Renee Haag, LeCenter, Minn.; three sisters, Betty Dichert, Long Beach, Calif., Janice Poole, Bismarck, and Rudy Morrell, Mandan; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
