CENTER -- Jake J. Haag, 78, Center, died Aug. 25, 1999, in his home. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Center, with the Rev. Austin Vetter officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the church, where a parish vigil and rosary will begin at 7 tonight. Visitation will continue until time of services Saturday.
Jake was born on May 23, 1921, in Center, the son of Conrad and Margaret (Mosbrecker) Haag. He was raised and educated in Center and married Elizabeth Hatzenbihler, June 21, 1942. They farmed for five years before moving to Wilsall, Mont., in 1947, where he operated a service station.
In 1949 they moved to Great Falls where Jake was a diesel mechanic for Tabor Truck Lines and operated his own gravel business. Jake retired and they returned to Center in 1993. Jake was an amateur radio operator. He loved auction sales and wildlife, especially his turkeys, which he fed every day.
Jake is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter and son-in-law, Marie and John Green, Moss Landing, Calif.; his sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Pius Pfleger, Center; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Beata, Center, and Edward and Thelma, Great Falls, Mont.; and special friends, Robyn Strang and Petra Dado, Prunedale, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Anna Mantz and Margi McLane; and one brother, Raymond, who died in infancy.
