Marcella J Mittelsteadt, 81, Bismarck, died April 24, 2015, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday April 29, 2015 at Christ the King, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery at 1:00pm.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Rosary at 7:00 pm followed by Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Marcella Mittelsteadt was born in Center, North Dakota on March 17, 1934, the daughter of Stephen and Eva (Mosbrucker) Lipp. After completing twelve years of school Marcella married Melvin Mittelsteadt on June 8, 1955. Marcella and Melvin were married for 50 years at the time of Melvins death.. She worked at “Ginny’s Genies” ceramic shop for three years in the 1970’s. She also taught Sunday school for grade school children at Christ the King Church for five years.
Marcella enjoyed dancing and playing cards with family and friends. Some of her hobbies she enjoyed where ceramic crafts, making nativity scenes and many kinds of figurines and other objects. She also enjoyed fishing and primitive camping. Marcella’s greatest joy in life was spending time with family and friends. She spent the last seven years of her life at the Baptist Home where she enjoyed playing bingo and was well liked by the staff.
Marcella will be deeply missed by her five children, Diane Leingang(Tony Martin)Mandan, Steve(Kathy) Bismarck, Joe(Debbie) Mandan, John(Peggy) Lakeville MN, Mark(Tina) Mandan; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Mattthew(Alicia), Jacob, Adam, Kayla, Annie and Sophia; five step-grandchildren Jon Eikanas, Missy Walker, Julie Larson, Brianna Stahowiak and Bryce Schroeder; Sisters, Isabell Flowers Mandan, MaryAnn Maertens(Hank) Center ND; brothers, Jim Lipp Glendive MT, Tom Lipp(Kathy) Bismarck, Ted Lipp(Terri) Mandan.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Eva; husband, Melvin; brother in-law, Douglas Flowers; one step grandchild, Tiffany Eikanas.
