Obituary for Ted A Ressler
Ted A. Ressler, 85, Mandan, North Dakota, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at CHI St. Alexius, Bismarck. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Ted was born November 17, 1929, at Timmer, North Dakota, to Adolph and Malena (Gerhardt) Ressler. He was raised and educated in rural Mandan. He served in the US Army in the Signal Corp and trained in power maintenance during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. On July 20, 1956, he married Carolyn Huff. From 1957 to 1967, he set up and managed the Blackburn Ranch for Harold Schafer’s Gold Seal Company. Ted was a member of the American Legion, Mandan Eagles, North Dakota Quarter Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, past National Director of the American Quarter Horse Association, past American Quarter Horse Association Judge, Charter Member/Director of the North Dakota Quarter Horse Association, past Livestock Committee Member of the North Dakota Winter Show, and in 2014, he became the first inductee into the North Dakota Quarter Horse Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, Mandan; two sons, Randy Ressler, Mandan, and Darren Ressler (Michelle Youngquist), Boise, Idaho; one daughter, Cameo (Kiel) Skager, Mandan; two sisters, Angie Gratz, Bismarck, and Aggie Schumaker, Rapid City, South Dakota; four grandchildren, Calder (Laura) Ressler, Chandra (Corey) Cronrath, Shae Skager, and North Skager; and six great-grandchildren, Kazien, Brayton, Cami, and Kaberly Cronrath, and Paisley and Cash Ressler; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, John, Ann, Matt, and MaryAn.
