Glenn "Bud" Brandt, 82, Minot, died June 19, 2006 in a Minot hospital.
Glenn was born on April 23, 1924, the son of Jacob and Rosina (Faul) Brandt on the family farm, near Upham, ND. He was reared and educated in the Upham area, graduating from Upham High School in 1943.
Glenn entered the United States Army on November 14, 1944, in Fort Snelling, MN. He went through basic training at Camp Joseph L. Robinson, Little Rock, AK. Glenn served his country for 19 months overseas in Luzon, Philippine Islands and received the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with Bronze Star and the Victory medal. He was honorably discharged on December 9, 1946 in Fort Lewis, WA.
On November 7, 1949, he was united in marriage to Muriel Ehlke in Minot. They farmed at Lakota, ND for two years, then to their farm near Maxbass, ND. They raised small grains, before retiring in 1989, when they moved to Minot.
Following his retirement, Glenn drove gravel truck for Farden Construction of Maxbass. He also worked for three years with Holen Construction, before taking a position with Bottineau County spraying weeds.
He enjoyed spending time at Lake Metigoshe with his family and friends. Glenn enjoyed visiting, playing cards, and especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildrens' sporting events. He was a former member of the Mohall American Legion, English Lutheran Church, Maxbass and served on the Lewis Township Board in Bottineau County.
He is survived by: Wife of 56 years, Muriel, Minot, ND; sons: Rodney (Bonnie) Brandt, Maxbass; Randy (Deann) Brandt, Maxbass; Russ (Elizabeth) Brandt, Center Point, IA; eleven grandchildren: Jeremy (Heather) Brandt, Jennifer (Kory) Nelson, Jessica (Rafal) Konik, Jacob (Jillian) Brandt, Andrea (Eric) Bowman, Joshua Brandt, Elizabeth Brandt, Dustin Brandt, Brittany Brandt, Marissa Brandt, Brayton Brandt; four great-grandchildren: Hanah and Trey Brandt, Brandt Konik, and Dillon Bowman; sisters: Irene Torgerson, Rugby; Elizabeth Tuchsherer, Rugby. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and fourteen brothers and sisters.
